I got a new phone (or reinstalled the app). Is my Pro still there? How do I restore my purchase?
Pro is a one-time lifetime purchase tied to your Apple ID. Sign in with the same Apple ID on the new device, open the app and go to Profile → Upgrade to Pro, then tap "Restore Purchase" — it restores for free and you will never be charged twice.
How does pronunciation work? Why is there no sound?
Tap the speaker seal next to an entry or character to hear it read aloud, in both Taiwan-accented and Mainland Mandarin. Pronunciation uses on-device speech synthesis and works fully offline; it is a Pro feature. If you hear nothing, make sure silent mode is off and media volume is up, and check Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices to confirm the Chinese (Taiwan / Mandarin) voices are downloaded.
What are "Regional Expressions"?
A collection of 253 local sayings from 6 Mainland regions — Shanghai, Beijing, Sichuan-Chongqing, Minnan, Guangdong and Xi'an. The same thing can be called something completely different from place to place. The free version shows the first 10 entries per region; Pro unlocks everything.
Where are my history and favorites stored? Are they uploaded?
Everything is stored locally on your device only — never uploaded, never synced to any server. The app has no account, no ads and no tracking. You can clear history and favorites anytime in the app, and deleting the app removes all local data. See the Privacy Policy for details.
What engine powers the conversion? Does it need the internet?
Conversion is based on the open-source OpenCC dictionaries (Apache-2.0 license), running through an on-device longest-match engine. All four conversion modes — including Taiwan-standard glyphs and cross-strait phrasing — work fully offline, no network connection required.
